On the Prospect of Rain

Wind of possibility,
rip a hole in the sky,
wide open and wet

with rain.  Water
this earth, satisfy
at last the fires

that burn, and Wind –
if not, then tear a hole
in me

until the outside
floods in
and all that is inside

pours out, unreserved,
until everything, everything
is wholly quenched.
